Visit Murchison Falls

Uganda Wildlife Safaris take you to the several Uganda National Parks found in the country. Among the top destinations for game viewing include the Queen Elizabeth National Park and Murchison Falls National Park as well as the Gorilla Safaris in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

The Uganda Wildlife Safaris have potential to view animals including lions relaxing and elephants ambling and giant forest hog snuffing. Any Uganda Safari visitor to Queen Elizabeth National Park cannot fail to be amazed by the enormous diversity in each kingdom of creation. It is simply a visual feast. Take a boat trip, a game drive, a woodland walk or simply enjoy any of the myriad stunning views.

The Murchison Falls National Park, with its variety of vegetation ranging from riparian forests and swamp lands to broad Savannah, provides the opportunity of seeing many of the animals found in Uganda. A launch trip upstream to the falls is one of the great experiences in Africa.

Elephant, hartebeest, giraffe, buffalo, crocodiles and countless antelope and birds (including the rare Shoe bill stork) can be admired at the water’s edge as the launch glides along. Here goes on how I and my friend enjoyed beautiful experiences and memories in Uganda;

Upon arrival at the Entebbe International Airport, we were warmly welcomed by a professional guide from Nature Adventure Africa Safaris who transferred us to Protea Hotel Entebbe for an overnight and dinner. This hotel was extremely good to the extent that I felt like I was already in heaven. It has good customer care and its staff is hospitable.

The next morning, our guide picked us from the hotel and we embarked on our journey to Kidepo Valley National Park via Gulu and Lira- Kitgum Road. Kidepo valley National Park is a completely different world of vast plains, in spring view from every vantage point with a lot of wildlife such as birds, mammals, plants and many more. The park offers breathtaking open savannah which is surrounded by spectacular mountain landscape nowhere to be seen in Africa. We had our enroute lunch at Kitgum Royal Hotel. Arriving in the park, we checked-in at Apoka safari lodge for resting, dinner and sleepovers.

The following morning, we had a morning drive through the ostrich farm and we were able to spot many animals such as elephants, cape buffaloes, giraffes, lions and many more. Later returned to lodge for relaxation and lunch. After lunch, we went for a nature walk to explore the park on foot.

This nature walk enabled us to come closure to more animals that we never saw during the game drive and we also saw a variety of bird species such as Fox Kestrel, Eastern Chanting Goshawk, Grasshopper Buzzard, Montague’s Harrier, Fan Tailed Raven, Stone Partridge among others. We went ahead and visited the Kjong Community at Karenga and Kapedo and these people shared with us about their life style. We learnt about their traditional way of living and also engaged in their day-to-day activities.

Early in the morning after breakfast, checked-out and transferred to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Hoima. We had our lunch at Hoima Cultural Safari Lodge and later proceeded with our journey to the park through Fort Portal while enjoying the winding scenery of the foot hills of Mt. Rwenzori. Upon reaching the park, we had an evening mini game drive enroute as we were heading to Mweya Safari Lodge for dinner and sleepovers.

We began our next day with a cup of coffee and later went for a morning game drive in the kasenyi plains. On the game drive, we encountered a lot of wildlife such as elephants, buffalo, water bucks, warthogs, lions, Uganda Kobs among others and a variety of bird species. Returned at the lodge for lunch and later went for a boat cruise trip along the famous Kazinga channel. Here we spotted Hippo, Buffalo, Kobs, Elephants, warthogs among others and spectacular birds. After cruise we went back for dinner and sleepovers at our lodge.

The following day, we had a morning game drive through the Ishasha sector as we were heading to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. We were lucky to spot the rare tree climbing lions. We had our enroute lunch in Ishasha at Ishasha Wildness Camp before we proceeded to Bwindi. On arrival in the park, we checked-in at Buhoma Lodge for dinner and sleepovers.

This day began with breakfast at the lodge and later went for a briefing about gorilla trekking rules and regulations from the Uganda Wildlife Authority staff. On this trekking journey, we went with rain jackets, drinking water, snacks, jungle boots, gears among to ensure our safety during this process. Into the jungle we were led by expert guides who gave us full detailed information about these shy primates.

The trekking took us about 5 hours thought it was worth the effort. Upon reaching these mountain gorillas, we were an hour of staying with them in the natural habitat which included taking pictures and videos. We later had our lunch and returned to the lodge for relaxation. The afternoon was spent on a village walk. The Buhoma Village Walk gives a great opportunity to see how the people (Batwa) surrounding Bwindi Impenetrable Forest survive. Returned to the lodge for dinner.

The following day after breakfast, we transferred to Lake Mburo National Park for an evening game drive. The park is renowned for zebras, impalas, buffaloes, hippos, topi and elands including the rare shoebill, crested crane, pelicans, fish eagle, heron and many water birds. All these can be seen during a game drive. Our dinner and overnight was spent at Mihingo Lodge.

The second last day of our trip, we had a morning bush walk and game drive in the park. Here we spotted a number of wildlife species such as big herds of Zebra, Impala, Eland, Warthogs, buffalo and other savannah species. We came across some bird species such as African Fin foot, Papyrus, Bush Shrike among others. In the afternoon, we returned to the lodge for lunch and also relaxed for about an hour.

After lunch, we went for a boat cruise amidst the Hippos and it was so amazing. Our boat cruise launched from the Rwonyo jetty and it took us about 2 hours to reach the eastern banks of Lake Mburo. The good sightings while at boat gave us an opportunity to see a variety of animals such as hippos, crocodiles, buffalos, waterbucks, bushbucks and many more.

Among the more conspicuous waterbirds we encountered during the Mburo boat cruise are the African fish eagle, shoebill stork, pied kingfisher, egrets, herons, Ross’s turaco, Narina trogon and the elusive African finfoot.

On our last day since our flight back home was in the afternoon, very in the morning we embarked on our journey back to Kampala with an enroute lunch before arriving at the Entebbe International Airport. We are really glad for having traveled with Nature Adventure Africa Safaris a big thanks to them.
